1. Unraveling the Inhibitory Activities of Gentiana Derivatives Against Inflammatory Response of Rheumatoid Arthritis Using Molecular Modeling Approach

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder which may cause joint deformity and bone erosion. Combined usage of anti-inflammatory and autoimmune drugs, leads to many side effects, due to which people suffering from RA are moving towards alternative treatment. Medicinal herbs can be a complementary and alternative medicine with less harmful effects. Qin-Jiao is the popular ancient Chinese herb usually used in the treatment of RA. Among the genus Gentiana, roots of Gentiana macrophylla, Gentiana crassicaulis, Gentiana straminea, and Gentiana dahurica, are characterized as Qin-Jiao. The aim of the present study is to understand the inhibitory effects of the compounds present in these Gentiana species. Twenty-one compounds from G. dahurica and twelve compounds from the other three Gentiana species were selected for molecular modeling studies using the Glide module of Maestro v 9.2. Out of the thirty-three compounds, seventeen compounds were docked against Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) target protein. Among these compounds, C27H38O19 showed the highest inhibitory effect with the docking score of -14.47 and glide energy of -68.43KcaL/mol. Stability of the docking complex COX-2 with the compound C27H38O19 was also evaluated through Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation studies using Desmond v4.0. Root mean square deviations and Root mean square fluctuations represented the stability of the docking complex. This approach underlines that this compound can be further evaluated at in vivo and in vitro studies as a mark of treatment for RA.

2. Ethnobotanical, Pharmacological Benefits and Phytochemistry of Sida cordifolia (Linn.): A Review

Abstract
The inclusive information is provided in this review on traditional uses, antimicrobial activity, phytochemistry and pharmacology of S. cordifolia. In ayurveda it is commonly known as bala. According to Ayurveda, the plant is tonic, astringent, emollient, aphrodisiac and useful in treatment of respiratory system related troubles. S. cordifolia is alternative tonic, astringent, emollient, aphrodisiac etc. Bark is considered as cooling. Seeds are considered as aphoradisiac. Roots are regarded as cooling, astringment, stomachic and tonic, aromatic, bitter, diuretic. It has a depressant rather than a stimulant effect on the central nervous system. Many pharmacological investigations have been carried out based on its chemical constituents. Extensive literature survey revealed many pharmacological properties includes antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, anticonvulsant, antidiabetic, antimutagenic, anticlastogenic, antiulcer, antioxidant, antiviral and wound healing activities.

3. Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching Regarding Labour Process on Anxiety and Pain Perception Among Primiparturient Mothers

Abstract
Background:  Pain during labor is caused by contractions of the muscles of the uterus and by pressure on the cervix. This pain can be felt as strong cramping in the abdomen, groin, and back, as well as an achy feeling. Fear, Stress and Anxiety all have marked effects on labor progression and pain perception. Aim: The present study aims to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching regarding labour process on anxiety and pain perception among primi parturient mothers. Methods: The study was conducted at Government general hospital, Kancheepuram district. Research design adopted for this study was True Experimental Pre-test – post test design. The sample size for the study was 60 primi parturient mothers,  out of which, 30 of them were allotted to study group and 30 to control group. Simple random sampling technique was followed to obtain the samples for the study. Structured questionnaire was used  to elicit demographic variables of primi parturient mothers . Standardized Zung self rated anxiety scale was adopted to assess the anxiety level of primi parturient mothers. Visual analogue categorical numerical pain scale was used to assess the pain perception of primi parturient mothers. Results:  The present study results showed that, there was statistically significant difference found in post test level of anxiety and pain perception among primiparturient mothers between study and control group at p=0.001 level. Conclusion:    The results conclude that the video assisted teaching was effective in reducing the anxiety and pain perception of the primiparturient mothers in study group. Nurses should create awareness and motivate others in the team to teach regarding labour process in reducing the anxiety and pain perception among primiparturient mothers.

4. In vivo Analysis of Clausena anisata (Willd.) Hook. f. ex Benth Crude and SNP Extracts Against Antioxidant and Hypoglycemic Activity

Abstract
Type II diabetes mellitus which is a chronic metabolic disorder is characterized by insulin resistance. Due to the serious side effects of synthetic antidiabetic drugs, the search for safer and more efficacious hypoglycemic agents is still being continued. The study was carried out to evaluate the antioxidant and hypoglycemic effects of C. anisata (Rutaceae) leaf and root crude extracts and extracts mediated synthesized Silver Nanoparticles (SNPs) under in vivo conditions. The synthesis of SNPs from ethanolic leaf and root extract of C. anisata was characterized by UV-Vis, FTIR, FESEM, XRD and EDS. The average size was found to be 60.67 nm for SNP leaf and 32.75 nm for SNP root. Two different doses 100 mg/kg bw, 200 mg/kg bw of each crude leaf and root extracts and 5 mg/kg bw and 10 mg/kg bw of SNP leaf and root extracts were used to treat alloxan-induced diabetic rats for 30 days. On administration of different extracts of C. anisata the activities such as serum glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol, liver biomarkers, gluconeogenic enzymes, antioxidants were significantly reduced and the activity of glucokinase, protein, serum insulin level, body weight, liver and pancreas weight was significantly increased in alloxan-induced diabetic rats on the 30th day. Glibenclamide (1mg/kg bw) was used as a standard positive control. The extracts had a beneficial effect on regeneration of β-cells of the pancreas in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.  Among the extracts, SNP root extract (10 mg/kg bw) was potent for in vivo hypoglycemic activity.  This possible effect is due to natural bioactive compounds present in C. anisata extracts that acted synergistically or independently in enhancing the antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities.
